Robert has served as the Music Librarian at the University of Notre Dame since 2012. His primary role is to serve as liaison to the Department of Music and the Sacred Music program, providing outreach, instruction and personalized research support for faculty and students. He oversees the development and management of the entire music collection to ensure it meets the teaching and research goals on campus and is properly cataloged and discoverable. Robert is proud to lead the design and transition of the collection to the new branch Music Library in O'Neill Hall opening January 2018.
As a musicologist, Robert has concentrated on the life and music of Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, publishing Bohuslav Martinů: An Information and Research Guide in 2014. He frequently collaborates with the Martinů Institute in Prague, conducting primary source research and serving as a redactor and English language editor for the Bohuslav Martinů Complete Edition. Currently he is working on critical editions of Martinů's one-act opera Ariane as well as Dvořák's three Slavonic Rhapsodies . In the broader field of 20th Century music of Central and Eastern Europe, Robert is interested in expressions of musical nationalism and the impact of Socialist Realism.
