About

The Appointments, Reappointments, and Promotions Advisory Committee (ARPAC) consists of four elected and two appointed librarians, and the Dean as ex officio, non-voting member. At least three members must be at the rank of Librarian, two members must be at the rank of Associate Librarian, and one member must be at the rank of Assistant Librarian. All full Librarians are automatically included in this election. Refer to the Elections Committee Eligibility requirements section for ARPAC to see complete details.

Role

The Appointments, Reappointments, and Promotions Advisory Committee (ARPAC) guides the processes of appointments, reappointments and promotion for the Committee on Appointments (CA) and for the Committee on Reappointments and Promotions (and Tenure) [CRP(T)].

The Committee shall review external candidates for faculty positions, conducting an interview with the candidate on behalf of the CA and preparing and presenting accompanying documentation for use in the CA's deliberations.

The Committee shall review candidates for reappointment and promotion, reviewing confidential materials and preparing and presenting documentation for use in the CRP(T)'s deliberations.

The Committee shall develop, maintain, update and communicate guidelines that provide concrete examples of minimum expectations for each library faculty ranks, for use in promotions considerations by the CRP(T).
