Patron Privacy / Confidentiality Working Group

Purpose: The Patron Privacy/Confidentiality Team focuses on user privacy and confidentiality in light of both organizational business needs and professional standards and best practices. The team provides consultations, researches and recommends practices, and drafts policies for consideration by appropriate units regarding patron privacy in a variety of situations, including patron use of online and print library resources. The team also organizes educational opportunities for library users to learn best practices relating to privacy. The team will understand and document current practices within our library and research trends in the profession related to patron privacy and confidentiality.

Decision making scope: Advises policy, provides consultation, and makes recommendations.

Time Frame: Standing Working Group. Core members cycle on and off as needed.

Core Working Group: Members represent Electronic Resources, Library Application Management, Researcher Services, University Archives, and User Services.
